With the US presidential elections coming up on November 3rd, we thought it would be fitting to take a look back at President Donald Trump’s typo-ridden tendencies on Twitter. While we all make spelling mistakes, two things make Trump's errors stand out, the quantity and the bizarreness. In fact, researchers at Factbase* have counted 188 misspellings since @realDonaldTrump took office. That's a misspelling about every five days! Here’s a look at 10 typos in Donald Trump's tweets.
It didn’t get off to a great start with "honered"...
“Democrats can’t find a Smocking Gun tying the Trump campaign to Russia after James Comey’s testimony. No Smocking Gun...No Collusion.” @FoxNews That’s because there was NO COLLUSION. So now the Dems go to a simple private transaction, wrongly call it a campaign contribution,...
So funny to see little Adam Schitt (D-CA) talking about the fact that Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker was not approved by the Senate, but not mentioning the fact that Bob Mueller (who is highly conflicted) was not approved by the Senate!
Other tweets include referencing "Barrack" Obama or "Teresa” May. Whether intentional or not, when these tweets target opponents of President Trump, they come across as being a kind of flippant insult.
This bizarre, seemingly incomplete tweet stayed up for a full six hours before it was taken down. "Covfefe" appears to be a poor attempt at typing "coverage." There’s even a [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covfefe#:~:text=Covfefe%20(%2Fk%C9%99v%CB%88,the%20constant%20negative%20press%20covfefe%22.) page about the famous covfefe tweet!
Even a president can confuse “loose” and “lose.”
Ted Cruz is totally unelectable, if he even gets to run (born in Canada). Will loose big to Hillary. Polls show I beat Hillary easily! WIN!
“China steals United States Navy research drone in international waters – rips it out of water and takes it to China in unpresidented act.”
The misspelling of the word unprecedented went unrecognized by Trump’s staff for one hour after which time was deleted and corrected.
Sometimes Trump’s spelling errors are so careless that it's hard to write them off as a mere typo and can rather be seen as a strategy to get the media talking while also amplifying Trump's message. Either way, it doesn't stop twitter from having an absolute field day trolling the president’s blunders.
This major error didn’t stay live for too long though as Trump deleted the original tweet and reposted it with the correct spelling within a few minutes.
There, their or they’re?
Trump also mixes up the words “there” and “their” having tweeted:
“The Fake News is now complaining about my different types of back to back speeches. Well, their was Afghanistan (somber), the big Rally...”
Okay, we know we said 10 but we couldn't possibly leave out this horrific typo in a tweet posted recently by the US president...
Hours later, Trump deleted and republished the tweet with the correct name of the Sunshine State, Florida.
There you have it! You would think the president of the United States would know how to use autocorrect or a spell checker... Facepalm.
